It was all a Dream, i used to read word-up magazine

Was it or wasn’t a dream. I have come to the conclusion that in Raising Arizona Hi was dreaming most of what was happening. I believe that the dream started when he went to grap the baby the first time. In the paper we have been working in this weeek in class he states a part where Hi is following a baby under a crib and going to grap him, and it compares to when Small was pulling Hi from under a car. I believe that at that point he had a flash of everything that would be to come from  taking the baby. Otherwise if it wasn’t a dream how could you prove something Lenard Smalls being real and having a matching tatto. Or when the “convient brothers” arise from the mud yelling, i just do not picture people coming out of the ground.. It actually makes me think about zombies lol. Anywho back to Hi, I believe that reason they flashed to the similar shot of HI and Small pulling him was to show how dream like this whole situation is. I believe as humans we sometime get carried away with our thoughts and our dreams can become so lifelike. I know i have had a dream that i am falling and i feel myself falling and then i wake up because i feel my whole body bounce on the bed. Hi could be having the same effect or portraying that. Well maybe thats what the Coen Brothers wanted us to see how real are dream can be..

Sweet Dreams!

First off i just wanted to say I love your title, it is very creative. Now on to the point. I agree with you, i find all of the events unrealistic and hard to believe because of how similar all the events are and how alike everyone is to how HI is or views things. On the other hand I think Hi started his dream when he laid down in his jail cell. I have very realistic dreams also so I know how you feel. Its pretty weird a couple of times I’ll be dreaming and im crying in my dream and I wake up crying…WEIRDOO!! We do get carried away with our dreams sometimes and you’re right about the cohen brothers trying to portray that, they did an excellent job at doing so.

    Word-up magazine?

It does seem odd that those two shots mirror each other. How often does that happen in real life, the repetition of an action in different situations and with different people?

  3. I like that song you quoted for your title. I agree with the fact that the movie was a dream. Although I did’nt believe or even think about it until reading Moss’s essay either. I don’t agree that the dream started when he went to grab the baby the first time, there is nothing to sugest that it starts there. But then again there isn’t much in the movie that makes sense or levels up with everything else, so maybe you are right. I guess the only people that know for sure are the Coen Brothers. I found this movie very puzzling and difficult to figure out. It’s interesting to discuss the movie with others and hear what they pulled from the movie, what thoughts they have on it. I bet we could talk about this movie the whole quarter, ripping it apart and still miss something.
