I sure do like it Hot

So for our big paper I have choosen to pick the movie Some Like It Hot. It a movie from the 50s, its a black and white film based in the roaring 20s when the prohabition law was in effect. Joe and Jerry two struggling musican run into some trouble with the mofia not intentional trouble but coincidentally run in their path. So did i menttion that Joe gambled away all of his money plus Jerrys. There only way out is th dress up like girls and join a girls bad, that happened to be going to Florida, perfect right, gets them away from the mofia trouble. Inside of leaving the girls when they get to Florida they stay because they have became close with a girl named Sugar (marylin monroe). Well has luck has it the Mofia has a yearly get together with the main mob groups at the hotel they happen to be staying at. Well that part of the mob gets shot and all is well. Its a crazy ride throughout the whole movie. My focusing question is Why does Jerry stay with Joe when he comes up with crazy ideas. Well i believe he stays because this is his best friend he cant leave him. He could have said no to him many times but he couldnt he wanted to trust his friend. Which i think we all do that from time to time. We put our faith and trust into someone, and even if it hurts us we want to stick with that person because you love them. Well i guess that is how we live and learn right!

In class we talked about the “bromance” element of the plot, and the crossdressing, and both are interesting and problematic things in the context of the time the movie was made. Men did not form friendships outside of foxholes in the manly 1950s, and they as sure as hell did not dress up like women. So, I think it will be interesting to get to the bottom of how these things make for a successful and believable plot and how the movie manages to challenge the audience’s prejudices without alienating the audience. Primitive bromancing blazing trails!
